Yuchais 4,600,000th engine & 30,000th new energy engine launched

On the morning of December 18, at the heavy engine assembling & commissioning workshop of Engine Plant 1, as the engine conveyor belt moved slowly, the 4,600,000th engine and 30,000th new energy engine of Yuchai Machinery Co., Ltd. (YM) covered with a red silk cloth and tied with a red flower--a National V gas engine was launched. Huang Daowei, member of the Standing Committee of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region and executive vice chairman of the Peoples Government of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region and Yan Ping, chairman of Yuchai Group jointly pressed the button to launch the engine.

This is a milestone in Yuchais development history, marks Yuchai engines have achieved a quantitative breakthrough and taken the lead in new energy engine specialization, laying a solid foundation for Yuchais green development. This reflects Yuchai provides power for development and performs social responsibility to gain public recognition, and witnesses the deep foundation and strength whereby Yuchai enjoys the largest number of multi-cylinder diesel engines in possession.

Among ribbon-cutting leaders were Huang Daowei, member of the Standing Committee of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region and executive vice chairman of the Peoples Government of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region; Wang Ruixiang, vice chairman of the Proposal Committee of the CPPCC National Committee and president of China Machinery Industry Federation; Wen Ming, vice chairman of the Standing Committee of the Peoples Congress of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region; Gao Xiong, vice chairman of the Peoples Government of the Peoples Congress of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region; Lin Guoqiang, vice chairman of the CPPCC Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region Committee; Zhang Shaokang, chief procurator of Guangxi Procuratorate; Jin Xiangjun, secretary of the CPC Yulin Municipal Committee; Han Yuanli, mayor of Yulin; Dong Yang, executive vice president and secretary-general of China Association of Automobile Manufacturers; Xing Min, vice council chairman and secretary-general of China Internal Combustion Engine Industry Association; Ouyang Jie, vice president of Dongfeng Motor Corporation; Niu Bo, general manager of Zhengzhou Yutong Group Co., Ltd.; Yang Yichuan, president of Guangxi Liugong Machinery Co., Ltd.; Qin Liuming, Party secretary of Dongfeng Liuzhou Motor Co., Ltd. and Yan Ping, chairman of Yuchai Group.

Yan addressed the ceremony, saying Yuchai embarked upon gas engine R & D early in 1998, and took the lead in the country to develop LPG and massively launch gas engines in 2001, which have entered into the stage of massive commercialization and been favored by customers, with annual sales redoubled. The number of engines has surged from 119 in early 2009 to 30,000 today. In May 2011, Yuchai won the first order for National V natural gas engines from Beijing Bus as the countrys first enterprise that had successfully developed National V natural gas engines. In November 2011, the sales of Yuchai engines were up 148% year on year. Now, buses equipped with Yuchai hybrid and gas engines have operated in cities such as Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Sanya and Chongqing, held an overwhelming over 80% share of the market and become the top green power for machinery plants. And Yuchai gas engines enjoy a comfortable lead in the bus industry by its outstanding performance.

Yan said Yuchai would actively respond to national policies for energy conservation and emission reduction, seize the historical opportunity of energy conservation, emission reduction and environmental protection, intensify the planning and R & D of Yuchais new energy market segments, make constant innovation and conduct lean manufacturing with technology and experience accumulated over the six decades, and compose a new chapter for Chinas green power development, thereby contributing to the national cause of environmental protection and the invigoration of the national industry.

At the ceremony, Yan delivered the qualification certificate of the engine to Zhong Qianghua, chief engineer of Beijing Public Transport Holdings Ltd. as the first engine of the first order for National V engines delivered to the company.

Among witnesses to the launch were relevant leaders of entities including Dongfeng Motor Corporation, Dongfeng Automobile Co., Ltd., Dongfeng Commercial Vehicle Company, Dongfeng Industrial Co., Ltd., Dongfeng Liuzhou Motor Co., Ltd., JAC Automobile Co., Ltd., Ziyang Nanjun Automobile Co., Ltd., Hubei Tri-Ring Special Vehicle Co., Ltd., Foton Motor Inc., Guangzhou Municipal Commission of Transport, Tianjin Bus and Beijing Bus, media guests and journalists. Wu Qiwei presided over the launch ceremony.
