From October 22 to 23, Guangxi 1st Yuchai Cup Founder Skill Contest was held at Yuchai Group. 43 contestants from six enterprises in Guangxi-Liuzhou Wuling Liuji Power Co., Ltd., Liugong Machinery Co., Ltd., Guangxi Qinglong Machinery Co., Ltd., Yuchai Machinery Co., Ltd., Yuchai Machine Parts Manufacturing Co., Ltd. and Yuchai Jinchuang Automotive Parts Co., Ltd. entered for the contest.

On the morning of October 23, the opening ceremony of the contest was held at the countrys most advanced Yuchai Foundry Center. Leaders and staff of the Guangxi Commission of Industry and Information Technology (GCIIT), Guangxi Department of Human Resources and Social Security, Guangxi Federation of Trade Unions, Guangxi Association for Mechanical Staff Education and Yuchai Group, together with the contestants, attended the ceremony.

Contestants

Liang Xiaobin, chief of GCIIT, said that as the contest was on the heels of the promulgation of the National Outline for Medium & Long-Term Development Plan by the Party Central Committee and the State Council, it is of great and far-reaching significance.

Casting marking contest

Zhang Jiasha, deputy Party secretary of Yuchai Group, said that Yuchai has been attaching great importance to cultivating high-skill talents and holds a skill contest every year. With a total planned investment of RMB 1.7 billion, Yuchai Foundry Center will grow into the worlds largest diesel engine casting manufacturing base, and is thus in dire need of foundry talents. The contest is not only a review and exercise of the skills of Yuchais staff, but also establishes a good platform for technical exchange, skill demonstration and learning promotion by all the units in Guangxi.

Hand molding contest

The hand molding contest was divided into two parts-theoretical test and skill operation test, the latter involved hand molding, defect analysis, casting marking and technical drawing. The contestants were tested in all the operations in turn. The theoretical test, held at Yuchai Training Center on the night of October 22, was dominated by the knowledge of gray iron, graphite cast iron and nodular iron and included in the knowledge of non-ferrous metals like cast aluminum.

The skill operation test was held at Yuchai Foundry Plant and Foundry Center on October 23. All the contestants brought out the best in them and skillfully demonstrated their foundry skills. Li Guohua, a contestant from the Foundry Plant of Yuchai Machinery Co., Ltd., said that he was a bit nervous as he participated in such a contest for the first time, but was confident after rounds of rigorous internal selection and training. A contestant from Liugong also said delightedly that it is most important for him to have an opportunity to learn from his counterparts, especially from Yuchais foundry talents.
