On the morning of November 23, Yuchai Commendation Meeting & Deed Lecture on 2011 Vocational Skill Contest was held at the meeting room on the third floor of Power Building. Liang Ping, chairman of the Labor Union of Yuchai Group, presided over the meeting. Corporate leaders, including Yan Ping, Li Tiansheng, Wu Qiwei, Zhang Jiasha, Ning Xingyong, Wang Wei and Guan Min, attended the meeting and presented awards to the contest winners, outstanding masters and apprentices, as well as outstanding organizers and advanced organizers in the contest.

Guided by the principle of promoting practice through contest, promoting training through practice and sharpening skills, with the strong support of group leaders and the concerted efforts of all contestants, judges, staff and units, the four-month 2011 Yuchai Vocational Skill Contest was wrapped up on September 10. 2011 Guangxi SGMW Yuchai Worker Skill Contest concluded on October 31, too.
This years contest boasts the largest scale, most categories and widest coverage since 2008, and involves 13 categories such as founder, internal combustion engine assembling and commissioning, maintenance electrician and UG drawing for product design, with the participation of 1,000 workers. The contest displayed five characteristics: 1. Leaders attached great importance to the contest and units gave active cooperation; 2. Contestants made active preparations and worked in a precise and orderly manner; 3. The contest involved a wide range of categories and attracted a lot of participants; 4. The contest is rich in content and its subjects pioneered technical directions; 5. The contest promoted talent growth and created a host of high-skill talents.
The most important result of the contest was an array of skillful talents. After intense competition, 111 contestants stood out, of which 11 were honored as corporate technical pacesetters, 11 as corporate technical masters and 89 as corporate winners, and Engine Plant 2, Tools Manufacturing Plant and Machining Plant were honored as best organizers. The contest also selected and trained contestants for the worker skill contest of Guangxi. Yuchai sent the top three placers of the electric welder category of the group skill contest this year for SGMW Worker Skill Contest. Consequently, Liang Hua ranked 4th in the category of automotive welders, and Yuchai claimed the second place in the team category, making a breakthrough in this category; in the category of forklift workers, Yuchais nine contestants including Zheng Tianshu made a clean sweep of the top nine places and claimed the team title.

Yan delivered an inspiring speech at the meeting. He spoke highly of the contest winners, hoped that they would dig into technologies on their posts, develop exquisite skills, carry forward the spirit of teaching technical experience and renew efforts to improve Yuchais level of leading manufacturing; would display their exquisite skills in work, and set examples and goals to workmates; and would fully display the mental outlook of building first-class and creative labor groups.
Yan hoped that all relevant units would vigorously strengthen the work of skill talent training, train a multitude of high-skill talents, give play to their leading, radiating and demonstrating role and steadily improve the overall quality of workers; that all workers would follow the examples of the commended technical masters and pacesetters, learn their spirit of studying hard and sharpening skills, set off a new wave of learning technologies and digging into business, develop a favorable style of advocating skills and devotion, improve the overall skill level of the technician team, and train and build a devoted, capable, exquisite and tough skill talent team, thereby providing skill talents for Yuchais development and presenting a generous gift to Yuchais 60th anniversary celebration.
