Yuchai heads to Kunlun Mountain for 5th high-altitude calibration test of engines

Through more than a month of elaborate preparations, the team of the fifth high-altitude  calibration test of Yuchai engines headed on July 19 to Kunlun Mountain in Golmud,  Xining with an altitude of over 4,500 meters for a calibration test of external  characteristics, universal characteristics and electric control optimization of four National  IV diesel engines, three gas engines and one engineering engine at different altitudes.  The journey will cover 15,000 kilometers, last 70 days and involve 300 hours of bench  testing.

To enhance the adaptability of Yuchai engines in different environments, since 2007,  Yuchai has sent fleets to China's most severe places every year for high-altitude, high- temperature and high-cold calibration tests of engines. To ensure the effects of high- altitude tests, Yuchai has independently developed mobile benches specific to high- altitude tests, and has completed high-altitude calibration tests of over 20 models, thus  laying a solid foundation for boosting the high-altitude performance of Yuchai engines.

To complete the work of the high-altitude calibration test of several electric control  engines, Yuchai Engineering Research Institute has worked out an elaborate plan for  high-altitude calibration, and has embarked upon a series of preparations since June,  including vehicle maintenance and safety inspection, sample engine and mobile bench  commissioning, spare parts preparation, etc. For potential difficulties in the test such as  altitude sickness and test failure, the team has also made full preparations.
