On the morning of September 20, the Commendation Conference for National Model Units and Individuals in Quality Work was held at the Great Hall of the People. As a result, Yuchai Machinery Co., Ltd. (YM) was honored as a national model unit in quality work, and Ma Xiaoxia, chief quality assurance engineer of YM, attended the conference and received the award on behalf of the company. 

Pu Changcheng, deputy director-general of the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine (AQSIQ), read the Decision on Commending National Model Units and Individuals in Quality Work from 2009 to 2010, honoring 91 units as national model units (pacesetters) in quality work.   

The conference came in the context of the National Quality Month themed Building Quality Power, Creating Good Life. Leaders, including Jiang Shusheng, vice chairman of the Standing Committee of the National Peoples Congress and Bai Lichen, vice chairman of the CPPCC, attended the conference and delivered speeches. Leaders and guests of honor, including Yang Xueshan, vice minister of industry and information technology; Ren Jinyang, vice chairman of the State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission of the State Council; Zhi Shuping, director-general of AQSIQ; Zhang Gang, counselor of the State Council; Xiang

Yuzhang, chief inspector of AQSIQ and Liu Zhuohui, chief engineer of AQSIQ, were present.
The conference conveyed four directions of quality work: great importance must be attached to quality work; Chinese quality contributors must be respected and commended; quality violations must be punished and rectified; and quality power building must be a common action of the whole society.
