On November 22, the 1st Annual Conference on Sustainable Development and Corporate Competitiveness was held in Beijing. The award ceremony for best practice of China corporate social responsibility was held at the conference. Yuchai attended the conference as the only machinery enterprise that won the Best Practice Award for CSR Report in 2011 Global Compact Network China.
Among attendees were Song Xiaowu, president of China Society of Economic Reform; Christophe Bahuet, UNDP China County Director; Fan Hengshan, director of the Department of Regional Economy, National Development and Reform Commission; Chu Xuping, deputy director-general of the Bureau of Research, State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission of the State Council and Yang Guansan, secretary-general of China Reform Foundation. He Xiaoyu, director of the Corporate Culture Department of Yuchai Group, attended the conference on behalf of Yuchai.
Attendees analyzed domestic and overseas political and economic situation, noted the importance of sustainable development from such aspects as energy, resource environment and ecology and social conflicts, and elaborated on the core role of sustainable development in performance of social responsibility. Corporate social responsibility management is an effective approach for enterprises to conduct effective governance, coexist with the society and sharpen corporate core competitiveness.
Yuchais Sustainable Development Report 2011 centers on Yuchais sustainable development activities in various fields from January 1 to December 31, 2010, and introduces the relevant information of Yuchais branches and subsidiaries. Since the first Sustainable Development Report in June 2008, Yuchai has released the report for three consecutive years. This years report is Yuchais fourth sustainable development report.
The Best Practice Award for CSR Report in Global Compact Network China is aimed at improving Chinas quality and level of compiling corporate social responsibility reports and promoting corporate social responsibility communication. The selection standards were formulated according to the characteristics of Chinas corporate social responsibility, on the basis of standards of the Global Compact Network for CSR reports. The other five winners of the Best Practice Award for CSR Report in 2011 Global Compact Network China include Sinosteel and TISCO.
