A good news came from Beijing recently . Lin Tiejinan of Yuchai Engineering Research Institute won the title of the "model worker" of national machinery industry. Only 7 persons nationwide won this honor. Lin Tiejinan added new glory to Yuchai employees!   

Lin Tiejian is the Chief Engineer of Combustion Technology for Commercial Vhicles Division and the senior engineer of Guangxi Yuchai Machinery Co., Ltd. He has a  PhD degree. He worked in the state key laboratory of internal combustion engine combustion in Tianjin University for his post-doctoral. Since December 2005, he has been working at the technology center of Guangxi Yuchai Machinery Co., Ltd for engine combustion R&D. Over the past 2 years, the combustion development which he devoted himself to has gained huge progress. Because of his huge contribution to R&D of Yuchai products and independent innovative capability, he won the 2007 Yuchai "model workers" and Yuchai "Ten Outstanding Youth "and other honorable titles.  

During the combustion development of two common-rail models of 4F and 6J, Lin was fully responsible for the matching and design finalizing of the combustion system of these two series. By his solid academic knowledge of the internal combustion engine and the hard working of the whole team members, the team used only one month to finalize the preliminary fuel systematic parameters that met the State III emission standards.    

In 2007, being the leader of performance team, He formulated the program for the development of each combustion system of every model. He actively coordinated with CAE, design department, arranged the technical program simulation, testing and planning, and followed the entire trial and development closely to ensure the completion of combustion systems. Through hard work and accumulation of experience, he discovered a full set of test methods and ideas of combustion R&D that were applicable to Yuchai products. He then applied the new methods into the R&D of new products.

At the development of 6J State III model, the sensitivity tolerance of the engine performance need to be tested to various parameters and related parts. It needed substantial time and efforts that was unbearable for the testing cost and progress. Lin Tiejian introduced a new method after making rational analysis. This method was proved to be an effective one to cut the testing time and increase the efficiency. In addition, the method was able to pinpoint the thickness of combustion chamber and cylinder pad, swirl ratio, fuel injector and other parameters. It strongly supported the production control of the parts.

In order to respond to call of energy-saving and emission reduction, Lin engaged himself to the development of environmentally friendly ultra-low emissions diesel engine. As the person in charge of the combustion system, he involved in the production of 1^st home-made State IV YC 6L series of diesel engines. YC 6L state IV engine took the lead to apply the SCR exhaust after treatment technology in the medium size diesel engine in China and became  the only engine that were used in Beijing public transit system in batch. Up to now, around 2,000 vehicles equipped with Yuchai State IV engines are used in Beijing public transit system. During the R&D of the 1^st domestically made Euro V YC 6L -50 diesel engine, Lin Tiejinan was in charge of the combustion and exhaust system development.  

In the R&D process, he paid attention to the knowledge and experience sharing that helped the overall level of the team. He discussed on the cutting-edge technology with colleagues at many times. Under his guidance, a large number of young R&D technicians grow to be the main force of Yuchai.
