Yuchai held the Model Workers Symposium at Yuchai Grand Hotel in the afternoon of April 28. The attendants included model workers of city level and above, regional and national May 1^st medalists, National Advanced Workers, winners of 2008 Honor Titles of the Group, model workers of the Group, model women workers and top technicians. Leaders attending the event were: chairman of board of Yuchai Group Yan Ping, deputy secretary of Yuchai Group CCP committee Zhang Jiasha, secretary of CCP committee of Yuchai Machinery Co., Ltd. Liang Ping, deputy secretary of CCP committee of Yuchai Machinery Co., Ltd. Guo Deming, vice chairman of Trade Union of Yuchai Group Huang Bojiang, and director of Women Workers Committee Guo Shijuan. Yan Ping made an important speech at the symposium and Liang Ping gave the festive greeting speech. The symposium was hosted by Zhang Jiasha.  

Following the award presentation to National May 1^st medalist and National Model Worker of Mechanic Industry Lin Tiejian and Guangxi May 1^st medalist Su Wei, Yan Ping made an important speech He pointed out that Yuchai had the foundation to face the current difficulties related to financial crisis, employment and livelihood that were most concerned. The sound foundation was benefited from the great contributions of model workers in every front line, as well as the hard work of all managers and employees. Even had the impacts of the financial crisis, Yuchai still achieved healthy development. Its operation and production were in good shape. It received 75,000 and 70,000 orders for engines in March and April respectively. The amount was expected to be about 45,000 in May. In March and April, over 60,000 engines were sold each month. On behalf of the company, Yan Ping thanked model workers and wished them a happy holiday and a happy life. He hoped them to work hard as usual and leverage their exemplary model role in their jobs. He believed that under the joint efforts of model workers and the whole staff, Yuchai would certainly weather the financial crisis.  

Liang Ping extended greetings to model workers and the whole staff of Yuchai. She highly appreciated the spirit of devotion and hard working of model workers, and their huge contributions in implementing the goal of to build another Yuchai in 3 years and fighting financial crisis. She requested them to continue to promote the spirits of job loyalty, enterprise and self-sacrificing to achieve more. Notwithstanding the present situations, she reminded all employees to keep a clear mind and be aware of crisis. The engine sector in whole retained good results in sales and production due to the stimulus policy of central government in the first quarter; but the engines in high demand were low-end models with relative low profits while sales of the high-end models such as State III engines was reduced. She required every model workers to take the lead in increasing the strength of the company and use their model roles to encourage colleagues to improve their skills and the quality of products in order to embrace the recovery of high-end products and maintain the sustainable and healthy development of Yuchai.

Model workers including Lin Tiejian and Su Wei spoke at the symposium. They expressed their gratefulness to the care and help of the company since Yuchai had offered them a platform to perform and achieve their value. They said that they would work harder and further enhance skills to contribute Yuchai with better results and more accomplishments. Being proud of the progress of Yuchai in fighting with the financial crisis in the past few months, they attributed the success to Yuchai leaders team that is leaded by chairman Yan Ping and the whole staff. Under the strict requirements for production, Yuchai made huge progress that showed Yuchai people had the potential to turn impossible into possible. The model workers also shared their experience in how to perform well on their jobs and offered advice to the management about the young generation, technicians cultivation, improvement of the plants layout, and mutual support between subsidiaries.

Zhang Jiasha commended the inspiring speeches of model workers and said that the company would study the advice and suggestions seriously and then require related leaders and departments to make improvements.   

Following the symposium, Yan Ping, Zhang Jiasha and Liang Ping, along with model workers enjoyed dinner together and celebrated the May Day.
