Deputy director of the new- and high-tech department of the Ministry of Science and Technology Zhang Zhihong highly praised the work of the R&D of Yuchais hybrid power on a visit to Yuchai in the morning of May 10. He pledged to support Yuchai to launch hybrid power system to the market quickly.  

 The visited Guests also included director of the China Automotive Technology Research Center, the Office of Major Projects of 863 ProjectEnergy-saving & New Energy Auto affiliated to the Ministry of Science and Technology and deputy chief of the expert team Zhang Jinhua, and expert of the New Energy Auto Project and president of Shanghai Electric Auto Co., Ltd. Gong Jun. Li Tiansheng, Yan Jie Shen Jie and Zuo Bin warmly welcomed the guests.   

Zhang Zhihong was very excited and said: Yuchai is the leader in the energy-saving and emission reduction and put the hybrid power R&D as its strategy. It confirmed that Yuchai weighed on innovation and placed the independent innovation and core technology on top.  

Yuchai initiated the hybrid power of diesel engine project at the beginning of 2006. In August 2007, the hybrid diesel engine project in conjunction with Shanghai Jiaotong University with full independent intellectual property rights passed examination. It was the first achievement of ISG urban bus power in the nation. In May 2008, the first group of Yuchai hybrid diesel engines was put into use. Yuchais urban hybrid bus is powered by both diesel engine and electric motor. At acceleration, the motor provides power to assist the strong force of engine. At deceleration, the motor will act as the power generator to store the energy. Its ISG technology made the four-cylinder engine achieved the effects of six-cylinder engine. It achieved the leading international technology level. It lows about 20 of the fuel consumption on urban roads. Currently, new energy auto represents the key direction in China . The President of China Hu Jintao requested at the 2009 Two Session (National Peoples Congress and Peoples Political Consultative Conference) to develop new energy autos. The Ministry of Finance and Ministry of Science and Technology started the trial to produce energy-saving and new energy autos in 13 cities starting from March with a target to have 60,000 new energy vehicles in transit system in the next 2-3 years.

Zhang Zhihong pointed that currently the R&D of Yuchais hybrid power system has significant impact on the promotion of Chinese new energy auto. Since the hybrid power system will have a bright future, he hoped that Yuchai would turn the market potential to reality by R&D, guarantee of technology and reliability. He pledged to support Yuchai to launch hybrid power system to the market quickly.
