At 0 oclock 21 minute on August 7th, 2010, Zhouqu county of Gannan district of Gansu province was stricken by strong rainfall, which caused enormous mudslide that made the Bailong River blocked at Zhouqu county to be a jammed lake and left two thirds of the county flooded. Some highways were totally broken down as the section from Min county to Daigu temple of provincial line 210 from Min county to Zhouqu county, the section from Diebu to Zhouqu of provincial line 313 from Diebu to Zhouqu county and the sections from Lianghekou to Zhouqu of provincial line 313 from Wudu to Zhouqu county.

On the arrival of the disaster, every staffs heart of Yuchai service station in Longnan was tightened by the situations there. The station leader Li Bingqiang held a meeting immediately on August 8th when they discussed and decided to aid the disaster area as much as the station could. The meeting arranged as follows: manager Xia Maoqiang sent staff to buy what needed badly by the disaster area such as instant noodles and mineral water; to arrange the service guarantee vehicles and design the relief route and actions; to organize a five people aid team by Yuchai service station in Longnan to rescue the disaster hit Zhouqu county; manager Xia Maoqiang directly led the aid team to the disaster are immediately and mainly took charge of the vehicle maintenance and rescuing work; to repair all the passing vehicles aiding the disaster area for free, ensuring the safe arriving of all the aiding materials.

The aid team and vehicles of Yuchai service station in Longnan hurried to the disaster area

It was more than 90km from Yuchai service station in Longnan to Zhouqu county. When the aiding materials and staff were ready, they headed to the disaster area without delay. Along line G212 and 313, there were already numbers of aid vehicles transporting aiding materials and aid teams from all regions, which formed a fairly long queue.

When passing Lianghekou at Dangchang, the vehicle ahead drove very slowly. It was informed from the traffic control staff that a bus carrying special policemen broke down due to mechanical problem, blocking the road. Immediately, manager Xia Maoqiang led some maintenance staff to the bus on foot. It was about 1km walk. The driver of the problem bus was very anxious. He said that the vehicle was equipped with Yuchai electrical engine. But due to a long time abandon, the engine could not be started at this very moment. He doubted a defect in the engine. Master You in the electric team of the service station started checking without any delay. Fortunately, the problem was found within half an hour and solved very fast. Then, Yuchai service people reminded the users to take care of the maintenance and taught them the maintenance methods.

Finishing the repair work, the user wanted to pay the service fees but Xia Maoqiang refused and saidThis is what we should do.
