The Meeting for Identification and Acceptance of Innov ation Capacity-building Project of Yuchai Technology Center was held in Nanning on September 3, where experts from Chinese Academy of Sciences, Tianjin University, Wuhan University, Beijing Chiguo Technology Assessment Institute, Guangxi University, Guangxi Institute of Automobile and Tractor, Guangxi Electrical Bidding Center, etc. carried out identification and acceptance over the "Innovation Capacity-building Project of Yuchai Technology Center" assigned to Yuchai by NDRC. The meeting was presided over by the Industry and Information Committee of the Autonomous Region, and relevant leaders from the Industry and Information Committee of the Autonomous Region, Yulin Municipal Industry and Information Committee, and Yuchai Group, etc. attended the meeting.

Identification Experts Inquiry on the Project

The Innovation Capacity-building Project of Technology Center of Guangxi Yuchai Machinery Co., Ltd. started in January 2007 and completed in December 2009, with 3 years? construction, has comprehensively completed the contract task through project implementation, with technical and economic indicators meeting contract requirements and reaching domestic and international advanced level. The project has achieved rich results:

Firstly, a diesel engine product design platform has been built: the R & D process and   project management system for analysis-driven design (YCEDP) has been established, the intelligent integration of R & D tools has been completed, R & D plan (including DFMEA), three-dimensional modeling, CAE virtual analysis, design results output and docking with SAP system have been achieved, the TENO-based digital process R & D system has been developed, the PDM system has been updated comprehensively, and the R & D efficiency has been improved.

Secondly, the diesel engine prototype and test platform has been built: the diesel engine test platform meeting State 4 and State 5 emission regulations has been established, and such domestic advanced special equipment as mobile plateau test bed, vehicle thermal balance test bench, tilt test bench, pump test bench, airway development test bed and gravity die casting mold, etc. have been successfully developed.

Thirdly, the project has trained an innovative R & D team consisted of 18 doctors and a lot of senior experts with multinational background, which can support 13 major series engines.

Fourthly, the project has made a series of technological breakthroughs, and has obtained 392 granted patents from 2007 to 2009, among which, motor vehicle thermal balance test platform, mobile containerized plateau engine test bench, and diesel engine integration R & D system based on organizational knowledge and analysis-driven design are pioneering at home.

The identification and acceptance expert group believes that the implementation and management of the project is very effective, and it is the first one among capacity-building projects accepted by NDRC which can adopt quantitative data to accomplish the target. The achievement made by the project is extremely encouraging, and the innovative R & D capacity of Yuchai is also leading in domestic industry. Leaders of Industry and Information Committee of the Autonomous Region have firmly approved the completion of the project, thinking that this project can be publicized and promoted as a model, and expressing that the state will give more support to the building of innovative R & D capacity of Yuchai.
