As the construction of the R & D building entered into the fast track since the beginning of this September, the construction of the Nanning base of Yuchai Engineering Research Institute, one of Yuchais key projects in 2010, has made great progress and been advancing towards the proposed objective. Zhou Sunhai, manager of the project department and Party secretary of the institute, often went to the construction site to discuss the methods and measures of progress acceleration with the construction unit; Pan Dong, deputy manager of the project department and manager of the manufacturing technology department, also led Li Fangyong and Zhang Zhi, persons in charge of the execution section of the manufacturing technology department for site supervision and instruction at the critical moment. Through multipartite efforts, the construction of the basement as well as pillars, supports and beam steel on the ground floor of the building has been completed. Additionally, under the organization of the manufacturing technology department and in the active assistance of relevant departments, the appraisal of the workshops and plant utility has been completed, and implementation has been unfolded in full swing.

The bustling Nanning base of the engineering research institute

Located 9 Keyuan East 11th Road, Nanning High-tech Industry Development Zone, with a total area of 121 mu and a total planned investment of RMB 310 million, the base construction involves an R & D building, a combined trial production shop, a hybrid shop, an engine test shop, a vehicle parts test shop, etc. The construction of the bases main buildings are scheduled to be completed in late 2010, equipment installation and commissioning and interior and exterior decorations are expected to start in 2011, and the base is set to be put into operation in the second half of 2011.

Following project completion, as a major base of Yuchai R & D system, the base will mainly undertake the R & D of new Yuchai engines, ancillary development of vehicles, performance tests of engines and main components, studies of structural analysis and test; tests of engine durability and reliability; development of hybrid engines and manufacture of key parts, etc. At the same time, the base will promote Yuchai to absorb and introduce talent and intensify external technical exchange and transformation. Additionally, the base will demonstrate Yuchais product, technology and management concepts as well as image as an international enterprise pursuing excellence in the aspect of corporate culture.?
