Good news has come recently from the Guangxi Federation of Trade Unions (GFTU that five works of Yuchai won the excellence award in the GFTU essay contest themed "Staff Libraries, Good Publications". The first prize went to A Life, a Book by He Xiangjin from No. 2 engine plant, the second prize to Reflection on Three Centuries by Chen Xinghua from the group trade union; the third prize to Inspiration from Team Sprit of Wolf Totem by Li Jingkun from No. 2 engine plant; and the excellence prize to Two-decade Reading by Zhu Qiyong from the department of corporate management and Reading Purifies My Heart by Fu Xiaoyi from the monopoly company. The contest presented 5 first prizes, 10 second prizes, 13 third prizes and 20 excellence prizes.

Yuchai held the contest from May 2009 and has recommended 30 works to GFTU for the contest.

Building the "staff libraries" is a practical and good deed of the trade union for the staff. The Trade Union of Yuchai Group attaches great importance to the construction of "staff libraries", has built the libraries in all residential communities according to the characteristic of dispersion of residential communities, and invests an annual sum of nearly RMB 100,000 to purchase various books on literature, novel, health, history and philosophy. In 2008, GFTU included Yuchai as a "staff library" model and presented 2,000 titles; in 2010, Yuchai was honored as Guangxi's advanced "staff library".

In the future, the group trade union will continue to give play to its role as a "sreat school", creatively carry out some characteristic and featured reading activities, promote learning by various means such as trade union organization, team and good learning, reading group activity and achievement demonstration, build a learning platform for staff, broaden learning carrier, enrich learning content, attract staff to reading activities, and cultivate staff's sense and capability of learning to accomplish the long-term development of staff; will extensively advocate the learning concept of "learning in work, working in learning", design effective carriers, establish necessary systems, create a favorable learning atmosphere, radiate the new vitality of staff reading activities in the new situation, vigorously carry out the project of staff quality building, guide staff in striving to be learning-based, knowledgeable, skillful and expert staff, and endeavor to build a high-caliber, top-notch and innovative talent team.
