On the morning of October 11, Li Peigen, academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering (CAE) and president of Huazhong University of Science and Technology (HUST), together with Yan Ping, chairman of Yuchai Group, witnessed the conclusion of the Agreement on Yuchai Joining the School-Enterprise Cooperation Committee of Huazhong University of Science and Technology, Agreement on Building the United Foundry R & D Center and Agreement on Scientific Research Cooperation. At the meeting room of the south third building of HUST, Guo Deming, deputy Party secretary of Yuchai Machinery Co., Ltd.; Liang Qingyan, deputy general manager of Yuchai Machinery Co., Ltd.; Xia Xiangdong, director of the Division of Horizontal Development and Technological Cooperation of the College of Technological Development of HUST; and Shi Yusheng, deputy dean of the College of Materials Science and Engineering, signed the agreements.

At the signing ceremony, the two sides probed into the matters concerning school-enterprise cooperation. Yan hoped that both sides would further deepen school-enterprise cooperation on the original basis through the conclusion of the three substantial agreements. Yuchais development calls for all-round support and cooperation from university and college research departments, especially in the aspect of processes and materials. Yan added that Yuchai came here today for learning and cooperation, believing that with the support of President Li and HUST, the high and close cooperation between the two sides, and the sharpening of Yuchais core competitiveness in the future, the invigoration of the national industry is expectable.

 Li noted that HUST learned much from Yuchai, stressing that the cooperation with Yuchai is bidirectional, which is not merely aimed to serve Yuchai, but to learn advanced technology and management experience from Yuchai. Li said, As we run open education, our cooperation with Yuchai is absolutely not closed, we hope to elevate the cooperation to a higher level, deem it as our mission and duty, link it to our educational philosophy and constantly enrich our cooperation, I believe that the R & D cooperation will be closer with the support of Chairman Yan. Yuchais visit has pushed our cooperation to a new summit, the deep cooperation between HUST and Yuchai will create a new splendid chapter for our school-enterprise cooperation, I believe with the unremitting efforts of both sides, our cooperation will keep achieving remarkable results, will be a model in school-enterprise cooperation, and will make a greater contribution to Chinas modernization and local economic and social development in the process of building an innovative country.

In the afternoon, Yuchais leaders visited the Wuhan National Laboratory for Optoelectronics, Wuhan National High Magnetic Field Center and Internal Combustion Engine Laboratory of the School of Energy and Power Engineering of HUST.
