At 5 p.m. on December 23, Yuchai Machinery Ziyang Engine Co., Ltd. (YMZE), with a history of two years, saw a new milestone-the release of the 10,000th engine, numbered D3612AA3105. YMZE Chairman Zhang Zhengqing said emotionally, The 10,000th diesel engine represents the painstaking efforts of Yuchais leaders, departments as well as all the staff of YMZE, we will renew efforts and take further steps to accomplish Yuchais strategic goal of RMB 100 billion by 2015.

The 10,000th engine embodies the efforts of Ziyangs 364 employees and tens of supporting employees, especially the thoughtful care of Yuchais headquarters. Since establishment, YMZE has focused on infrastructural construction, R & D and manufacture, successfully and independently developed two medium-speed marine diesel engines based on advanced European technologies. Now, the companys sales have topped RMB 1 billion.

With the strong support of Yuchai and CSR, YMZE will grow into a professional manufacturer of diesel engines, gas engines, marine diesel engines and engine parts through resource integration.

Now, 70% of the medium-speed marine engines in China are directly imported, and the rest 30% are almost foreign licensed products. China depends on imports for technology, without independent intellectual property. Domestic medium-speed engines are technically backward and used for fishing and inland vessels only, without access to the mainstream market. In recent two decades, through technical cooperation, patent or license introduction and independent research and development, the production capacity of the equipment constituting domestic marine power stations has formed, but marine systems are yet to be supplied in set, system advantage and product series are deficient, thus China is no match for overseas manufacturers.

As an outstanding representative of national engines, Yuchai has firmly dominated the Chinese market. This time, by cooperating with CSR and integrating local medium-speed and large-power diesel engine manufacturing resources, Yuchai accessed the medium-speed diesel engine market that has long been occupied by advanced European technologies to gain a new space for the development of Chinas national industry.
