On December 21, the conference on China Outstanding Auto Talent Award was held in Beijing. As a result, Dr. Lin Zhiqiang, president of Yuchai Engineering Research Institute (YERI), won the China outstanding auto talent award as the only prizewinner from the domestic engine industry. The award is a top one aimed to motivate young scientific and technological staff to concentrate on science and technology and promote the scientific and technological progress of the auto industry. It speaks highly of Yuchais young scientific and technological staff represented by Lin, and recognizes Yuchais innovation achievements.
Lin graduated as a bachelor of engineering from the School of Auto Engineering, Harbin Institute of Technology (HIT) in June 1996, obtained a masters degree in engineering from HIT in June 1998 and a doctors degree in engineering from Tianjin University (TJU) in October 2001, and did postdoctoral researches at the School of Chemical Engineering and Technology, TJU between 2001 and 2003. In late 2003, Lin resolutely gave up the favorable working and living conditions in Tianjin to join Yuchai Machinery Co., Ltd. in the southwest of China. Over the years, Lin has conducted new product researches actively and responsibly, worked toughly, realistically and innovatively and achieved remarkable effects in such aspects as product design improvement, new technology research and popularization, fast grew into an outstanding young technological talent, shouldered the heavy duty as the president of YERI, and took up the post of vice council chairman of Guangxi Internal Combustion Engine Association.
Lin has long concentrated on the R & D of various diesel engines and technologies, has solid theoretical basic knowledge and rich practical experience, high devotion and a strong thirst for perfection, can keenly grasp the trend of future products, headed the R & D of several leading and applicable engines to meet market demands, developed technologically leading products for Yuchai and the auto engine industry, filled some domestic gaps, and achieved remarkable effects.
Since joining Yuchai in December 2003, Lin has successively headed the development of YC6M 390Ps four-valve National III heavy diesel engine as well as YC6K 12 and 13 engine series; has organized the development of YC6J, YC4F, YC4W, YC4E and YC6G National III diesel engine series; has published over 10 theses and three retrieval theses, some of which were ranked among Tianjins outstanding doctoral theses in 2004; and has won 11 patents, including an invention patent. Lin has made an outstanding contribution to the technical development of Chinas diesel engine industry.
