On January 7, 2011, the Party committee and peoples government of the autonomous region held the conference on the opening of Guangxi 2011 Science and Technology Week and commendation for science and technology. At the conference, the autonomous region leaders presented awards to the winners of the special merit award of Guangxi for science and technology in 2010 as well as representatives of some projects winning the awards of Guangxi for natural sciences, technical invention and progress in science and technology in 2010. As a result, YC230LC-8 Hydraulic Excavator of Yuchai Heavy Industry Company Limited (YHI) won the third prize of Guangxi for progress in science and technology.

In recent years, YHIs leading body has attached great importance to technological innovation, with a growing number of awards for progress in science and technology, awards for technological achievements, awards for QC achievements and patents, thus winning unanimous praise from the technological administrations of Guangxi Autonomous Region Peoples Government and Yulin Municipal Peoples Government. In 2010, YHIs YC230LC-8 hydraulic excavator also won the first prize of Yulin for progress in science and technology, establishment of a national high-tech enterprise won the special prize of Luchuan for progress in science and technology, and formulation and implementation of Yuchai hydraulic excavator standards won the second prize of Luchuan for progress in science and technology.
