For an in-depth discussion about foundry process, quality and technical improvements, on January 13, at Yuchais invitation, Zhu Jianxun, vice chairman of China Foundry Association (CFA), visited Yuchai Machinery Co., Ltd. for an academic exchange. Yuchais foundry specialist Tong Siyi, members of Yuchai Foundry Association and professionals of Yuchai Foundry Plant were present.

Zhu laid emphasis on the selection of raw materials for self-hardening resin sand, cold core box resin sand and hot core box resin sand, as well as technical expertise such as formula and mixing process. He noted that resin sand is a widely used material for molding and core making in sand mold casting, cold core box resin sand and self-hardening resin sand are particularly easy to mold and accomplish mechanized and automated production, with accurate mold and core scale. When speaking of foundry paint, Zhu gave a brief account of the functions, components properties and preparation processes of paint. Also, Zhu sketched knowledge such as types of casting riser and feeding principle of common risers.

At the seminar, specialists like Zhu and Tong thought Yuchai Foundry Plant had made great progress in new processes and technologies, especially in theoretical researches on vermicular cast iron and smelting process. They encouraged the foundry workers to actively explore the paint and riser processes for resin sand and sand mold casting, and to make greater contributions to increasing the accuracy class and surface quality of castings, improving the labor conditions of foundry, increasing yield and reducing production cost.

After the technical lecture, Zhu visited the workshops of the foundry plant to observe foundry production.
