On the morning of January 26, the ignition ceremony of YC6T-18L and YC8C diesel engines was held at the laboratory of Yuchai Engineering Research Institute (YERI). Corporate leaders including Yan Ping, Li Tiansheng and Shen Jie pressed the engine launch button, announcing the birth of the two new models. Deputy General Manager Liang Qingyan, General Manager Assistant Lin Zhiqiang and Tan Guirong, other leaders of Yuchai Machinery Co., Ltd. as well as relevant technical staff of YERI witnessed the great event.

At the ceremony, the technical staff introduced the new models to Yan and other leaders. With a displacement of 18.2L and a maximum power of 734P, YC6T-18L is similar to YC6T in parameters such as external interface and size, is characterized by low speed and large torque, and is an ideal engine for transport vessels, fishing vessels and generating sets.

ith a displacement of 52.77L, YC8C is a vertical eight-cylinder diesel engine independently developed by Yuchai, which has owned over ten national patents and been up to domestic leading and advanced international standards. In modularized integrated design, with an optimized layout of cooling channel, water pump, pipeline and exhaust pipe, YC8C is compact, good-looking and expected to be launched late this year. With a maximum power of 1,300P, up to T2 and IMO II emission standards, YC8C is a new engine for large transport vessels, fishing vessels and generating sets. Compared with domestic similar models, YC8C has advantages such as small size, light weight, low fuel consumption, outstanding emission and strong adaptability to fast speed; compared with foreign brands, YC8C is equal in fuel consumption and emission level but more competitive in such aspects as price and service.

YC6T-18L and YC8C are of great strategic significance and a further improvement in the spectrum of Yuchai marine electric products. The two models have extended the power coverage of Yuchai marine electric products, further strengthen the market adaptability of Yuchai products, increased the advantage of Yuchai products and boosted the competitiveness and status of Yuchai in the marine electric market, and will win a greater market share and create greater economic benefit for Yuchai.

The advanced design concept and outstanding advantages of the two models show again Yuchais persistent pursuit of being a Chinese contributor to material and energy saving and concept of developing leading and applicable products, display Yuchais mature and advanced technology and capability of manufacturing large-power marine electric diesel engines, and demonstrate to the industry Yuchais strong capabilities of product R & D, manufacture and independent innovation. It is learned that Yuchai will successively introduce new marine electric products during the twelfth five-year period to build a complete spectrum of marine electric products and bolster up its marine electric market.

Yan said he paid close attention to product R & D and launch and would generously reward the outstanding technical staff in this respect, hoping that they would make concentrated efforts to develop more competitive products for the enterprise.
