Yuchai crosses Gobi to reach Muli coal mine

Over 30 kilometers northwest from Haiyan, Qinghai Province, a depopulated zone in the Chinese atomic bomb test base, is Tianjun Muli coal mine, Qinghais largest open coal mine. It is rich in black gold, hundreds of large coal trucks from around the country assembled here every day, the vehicle demand of the coal mine is also robust, there have been over 150 Dongfeng T-Lift with YC6M engines here since last August, and the future market is promising.

Hard move

Engine inspection

However, the coal mine is severe, chilly and deficient in oxygen all year around, with gale and blizzard every day. Due to the severe environment, YC6M engines became unaccustomed-low water temperature. To clear the failure as soon as possible, on March 16, three experts, including Yang Diqiang of Yuchai customer service center, Wu Yunxi of the department of technical support and Mo Qu of the department of application development hurried to the site. Upon arrival in Qinghai, they rushed to the distributor regardless of fatigue to inquire about the situation.

At 5 a.m. next day, the three experts, together with Zhong Jun, service manager of Qinghai office and Liang Qianke, parts manager set out for Muli in the dark at the risk of high-altitude anoxia. The service vehicle crossed the grassland and Gobi, struggled forward on gravel beach beaches, reached Damuli pass with an altitude of 4,329 meters after an over ten hours ride, walked over ten kilometers uphill and finally reached Muli coal mine.

It had been afternoon when they arrived. In the coal mine, the gale howled, and dust and coal ash blew against the face. Learning that Yuchai experts came to their assistance, many users gathered round and told about vehicle use. After inquiring about the details, regardless of great fatigue from the bump ride and strong altitude stress, against the fierce gale and floating coal ash, at 23 degrees Celsius below zero, the experts started to check the low water temperature of YC6M engines and jointly studied and analyzed the failure.

Yuchais work staff posed for a photo at the coal mine.

Users and the staff of the service station advised that experts should stay in the plank room and the service staff should made the check in place of them. However, they insisted on checking personally, worked out a verification plan after an elaborate check, and achieved prominent effects.

Users admired Yuchais staff for hurrying to such a severe environment for troubleshooting, said Yuchais staff was the first group of visitors coming to their assistance, felt warm inside and secure to buy Yuchai engines with care in such a remote and severe place: Yuchai is always by their sides whether they are on snow-coated jokul or boundless Gobi.
