On the afternoon of March 31, Yuchai Technicians Work Sum-up and Commendation Conference was held. At the conference, Yuchai awarded RMB 1 million again to high-skill talents. Yan Ping, chairman of Yuchai Group and other corporate leaders presented awards to the prizewinners.

At the conference, Yan delivered an important speech. He said, in recent years, Yuchais technicians have made outstanding contributions on ordinary posts and have become the most important nucleuses of Yuchais teams. Over the past year, Yuchai has made substantial progress in business scale, business benefit and management, and have achieved best-ever results, which are inseparable from the contributions of our technicians and workers. Yan recognized technicians contributions from the perspectives of strategic orientation, history and future. He noted that technicians are the most important part of the corporate strategy and Yuchai should attach great importance and make unswerving efforts to build the team.

To this, Yuchai required that technicians should consolidate the confidence in job success and raise the sense of pride in job success; should perfect the respect and security measures, the most important of which is perfecting the system of technician pay and benefits and improving technicians social status; should strengthen mentorship; and should intensify cultivation and introduction of core talents.

To motivate skilled talents to succeed on posts, promote mentorship, intensify the construction of creative labor groups, create a dense atmosphere of respecting skilled talents, build a moral, competent and exquisite high-caliber team and give better play to the role of high-skill talent, Yuchai formulated the Plan for Rewarding Yuchais High-skill Talents for Outstanding Technical Achievements in February 2010. According to the plan, Yuchai appropriated a special fund of RMB 1 million every year to award its high-skill talents. In March 2010, Yuchai awarded RMB 1 million to high-skill talents for the first time.

The move boosted the creativity of high-skilled talents, who shouldered heavy duties, sharpened skills painstakingly, scaled heights and made outstanding contributions to corporate development to realize their personal value. In the commendation, 23 projects won the award for outstanding technical achievements of high-skill talents. Improvement in Method of Core Setting by Li Guohua of the foundry, Optimization of Manufacturing Technology of Bucket Arms of Hydraulic Excavators by Ou Jinyong of Yuchai Heavy Industry Company Limited and Breakthrough in Reducing the Rejection Rate of Turn-broaching Machines by Liang Jiajian of the cold machining plant won the first prize; six projects including Applications of Lost Foam Molds by Chi Zhaojiu of the technological equipment plant won the second prize; and 14 projects including Improvement in Performance of OP90 Deep-hole Gun Drilling Rig of Cylinder Body Line of No. 2 Engine Plant won the third prize.

The executive levels and middle-level managers of Yuchai Group and YM, chairmen of grass-roots trade unions, directors of women workers committees, (general) League branch secretaries and staff education managers were present. Towards the end of the conference, over 1,000 attendees sang loudly We Workers Are Powerful in chorus, demonstrating their strong will and confidence in achieving the objective of RMB 40 billion in 2011 with sonorous singing.
