What is the concept of 2,000,000km? It is 50 circles of the terrestrial equator, nearly three round trips from the moon to the earth, 20 somersaults of the almighty Monkey King, as well as the total overhaul-free mileage of YC6G270 engines with which Shijiazhuang Feilu Passenger Transport Co., Ltd. (SFPT) equipped its buses!

On March 14, 2011, in the chilly early spring, I, together with Lin Zhengyi, service manager of Yuchai Hebei office, visited SFPT to witness the miracle of 2,000,000km overhaul-free operation of YC6G270 engines. Gao Gengwu, vice chairman of SFPT, warmly received us, introducing the ever-fresh and pleasant cooperation between SFPT and Yuchai and admired the outstanding performance and services of Yuchai engines.

SFPT owns 59 buses (including affiliated ones), most of which are King Long, accounting for 70%, and the rest are Higer and Ankai. Of all engines matching the buses, Yuchai engines accounted for over 70%; almost all the 28 owned buses of the company are equipped with Yuchai engines.

In the talk, Gao said the company purchased Yuchai-powered buses upon deliberation and the actual use made SFPT rejoice at their choice. These batches of Yuchai engines are powerful, fuel-conserving and low in failure rate, particularly one which has operated for over 2,000,000km since purchase is in good condition and free of overhaul. Led by Gao, we were lucky to see the miracle creator.

Since SFPT purchased the bus in 2002, apart from normal replacement of the wearing parts of the engine, there were no other failures. In drive and regular maintenance, all parts were found to be perfect and overall performance to be outstanding. There are two King Long buses with 300hp imported engines operating on the same line. Compared with the imported engines, Yuchai engines can save about 20L oil and nearly RMB 500,000 in the life cycle of the bus. In the same road conditions, the YC6G270 (270hp) engine speeds up faster than imported 300hp engines.

Yuchai YC6G engines have outstanding advantages such as high reliability, long useful life and low fuel consumption. Since going on the market, it has gained great popularity and occupied a high share with 120,000 units in possession, thus standing out in the large bus market.

With the increasing specialization of division of the large bus market, Yuchai has introduced YC6L and YC6M new-generation large bus engines several years before to satisfy the market demand together with YC6G. Since coming into the market, YC6L has gained market recognition by its outstanding power performance and economy, and has been particularly popular in Beijings group tourist transport market. So far, the number of YC6L-powered buses in possession have topped 40,000 and topped 10,000 in 2010 alone. By outstanding power performance and reliability, YC6M has grown fast in the large high-grade road bus market. The strong combination of YC6L and YC6M will renew the success of Yuchai in the large bus market.

Out of great trust in Yuchais large bus engines, SFPT equipped all the eight King Long buses purchased this year with Yuchai engines. Gao said SFPT would continue to maintain close relations with Yuchai in future purchase, hoping Yuchai will renew efforts to create more miracles.

2,000,000km is a milestone on the way of Yuchai as well as a new start of the long journey of Yuchai illuminated by the bright future.
