In accordance with the relevant provision of the Constitution of Yuchai Fund for Needy Workers, in the first quarter of 2011, 35 workers suffering from major diseases and natural disasters were supported by the fund. A sum of RMB 309,445.75 had been distributed to the 35 workers before May Day. Two workers, from the foundry and cold machining plant of Yuchai Machinery Co., Ltd. respectively, received RMB 34,511.20 and RMB 24,325 respectively. Both workers are in financial difficulty due to major diseases.

According to the source, the fund comes from management expenses paid by all subsidiaries of Yuchai every year and is under the unified management of Yuchai Machinery Association. The fund is distributed quarterly. After filing a relief application, a need worker must go through procedures such as preliminary examination by the company, investigation and verification by the corporate trade union, and examination, approval and announcement by the "group committee on worker poverty relief."

The fund is aimed at reducing the high medical cost of workers suffering from serious and major diseases; reducing high medical cost from traffic accidents and other accidents workers not caused by workers; duly easing the financial burden caused by major diseases of immediate family members of workers; and helping the families of workers suffering major losses caused by natural disasters and other reasons. The timely distribution of the fund leads to timely treatment of workers and their relatives, and can help needy workers out of trouble as soon as possible.

Over the past five years since the Constitution of Yuchai Fund for Needy Workers was promulgation in February 2007, over 400 workers have been aided with a sum of nearly RMB 4 million. The fund effectively solves workers? practical difficulties and makes them feel the warmth of the great family of Yuchai all the time.
