On May 5, the 9th China Automobile Innovation Forum & Road of Liftoff-Celebration of Achievements of Chinas Automobile Industry over Decade was held in Shanghai. As a result, Yuchai won three awards: Yuchai Machinery ranked among Top 10 Influential Chinese Engine Brands over Decade, Yan Ping, chairman of Yuchai Group, among Outstanding Chinese Automobile Entrepreneurs over Decade, and Wu Qiwei, general manager of Yuchai Machinery Co., Ltd. (YM) among Influential Chinese Automobile Marketing Figures over Decade. Guo Deming, secretary-general of the council of Yuchai Group and deputy Party secretary of YM, was present on behalf of Yuchai.
In the opening decade of the new century, Chinas automobile industry has progressively grown strong by constantly increasing the degree of intensification, stepping up scale, sharpening core competitiveness and steadily implementing the ideological principles of going out. After a leap in 2009, Chinas automobile industry achieved a record output of over 18 million in 2010. This is a milestone in the history of Chinas automobile industry as well as a key node for the industry to grow strong progressively.
As a core automotive parts manufacturer, Yuchai mainly manufactures diesel engines, with its output surging by 13 times from 58,300 in 2000 to 749,000 in 2010, and sales surging by 14 times from RMB 2.587 billion to RMB 37 billion.
Fan Jianping, chief economic engineer of State Information Center; Dong Yang, executive vice chairman of China Association of Automobile Manufacturers (CAAM); Zhang Xiaoyu, vice executive chairman of China Machinery Industry Federation (SAE-China); Fu Yuwu, executive vice chairman of the council of the Society of Automotive Engineers of China and Guo Tiecheng, vice president of Chinese Academy of Science and Technology for Development (CASTED) made keynote speeches. Leaders of enterprises such as Geely Holding Group, Fast Group, Volvo Group, Wuxi Diesel Engine Works and FAW Car Limited Company also delivered speeches.
