On June 2, Yuchai held a meeting on recruiting and reviewing Bagui scholars and special experts in Nanning. The meeting aimed to select proposed Bagui scholars and special experts recommended by Yuchai to the autonomous region. Three experts in and out of Guangxi, including Wang Binggang, head of the expert panel of the Office of Major Projects of Energy-conserving and New Energy Vehicles of the Ministry of Science and Technology; Shen Jie, chief engineer of Yuchai Machinery Co., Ltd. (YM); and other experts were present. Wang Wei, chief economic engineer of YM, presided over the meeting.

In December 2010, Guangxi released the Trial Measures of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region for System of Bagui Scholars and Trial Measures of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region for System of Special Experts to practice the system of recruitment of Bagui scholars and special experts. Bagui scholars are high-caliber leading talents recruited with the approval of the autonomous region, and special experts are academic technical leaders recruited with the approval of the autonomous region. Within a recruitment period of five years, a Bagui scholar may enjoy a maximum subsidy of RMB 13.5 million; within a recruitment period of three years, a special expert may enjoy a maximum subsidy of RMB 1.4 million.

YMs R & D of power systems of new energy vehicles and technology of clean combustion of engines have ranked among the proposed posts for Bagui scholars and special experts. Yuchai made an announcement on recruiting Bagui scholars and special experts this May, and has included several experts in the candidate list.
