On December 26, Yuchai Group held the Symposium on Planning and Construction of Yuchai New Industrial City under the theme of "Second Start-up, Collaboration for Win-win", to introduce Yuchai New Industrial City and call on Yuchai's suppliers to settle in the city, raising the curtain of second start-up.

Yuchai New Industrial City is the carrier and platform of Yuchai's "second start-up" as well as a major move of the CPC Yulin Municipal Committee and the Yulin Municipal People's Government in its strategy of "invigorating Yuchai and prospering Yulin". The municipal committee and government attached great importance to the project and pledged to pool citywide efforts for city construction. Mayor Wang Kai and Vice Mayor Feng Xiangying of Yulin City; Chairman Yan Ping and President Gu Tangsheng of Yuchai Group; as well as leaders of relevant departments like the Yulin Municipal Industry and Information Committee, the Yulin Municipal Bureau of Land and Resources and the Yulin Municipal Bureau of Housing and Urban-Rural Development were present at the symposium. Among other attendees were representatives of over 40 suppliers of Yuchai like Nanyue Fuel Injection Systems Co., Ltd. and Guilin Fuda Group Co., Ltd. Wu Qiwei, general manager of Yuchai Machinery, presided over the symposium.

At the symposium, Gu introduced the plan for Yuchai New Industrial City. He said, Yuchai New Industrial City was authorized by the Yulin Municipal People's Government, planned, constructed, operated, managed and promoted by Yuchai Group. With a focus on development and extension of Yuchai's core industry chain, the city was planned under the principles of "prominent industries, rational layout, green ecology, industry-city integration, commerce friendliness and liveableness". With a total planned area of 10,940 mu, the city will be constructed in three phases, including 2,800 mu for Phase 1 and 8,140 mu for Phase 2 and 3. The plan has an estimated total investment of 30 billion yuan.

Yuchai New Industrial City focuses on high-end manufacturing development and is oriented on industrial support for Yuchai. Then, an industrial agglomeration base integrating "one headquarters base with eight industrial zones" will come into being. The eight industrial zones are engine industry zone, parts industry zone, electric car industry zone, commercial logistics industry zone, technological incubation industry zone, automotive electronics industry zone, environmental protection industry zone and agricultural machinery industry zone. The city will be built up in 2018, and will strive to achieve an annual output value of over 100 billion yuan and a parts localization rate of over 50 percent and introduce or incubate two or three domestic famous new equipment manufacturing terminals in three to five years.

Chen Ningbin, vice general manager of Yuchai Machinery Co., Ltd. (Yuchai Machinery), introduced the supply chain plan. He said, construction of Yuchai New Industrial City is the common platform and undertaking of Yuchai and its suppliers. Now Yuchai's supply system has problems like scattered distribution, low localization rate and high logistics cost, suppliers' investment in the city can effectively resolve these problems and boost the core competitiveness of Yuchai and its supply chain system. Yuchai will preferentially select among the existing outstanding suppliers in the supply system for investment in the city, conduct unified planning and management of the city's supplier system, and employ Yuchai's advantages like technology, quality, process and management to provide various development conditions for settled suppliers.

The suppliers present said they would follow Yuchai and support construction of Yuchai New Industrial City, considering investment in the city as an opportunity for their second-time development. Also, the supplier representatives offered opinions on granting preferential land and tax policies and giving support on share of support, human resources and transportation.

Referring to share of support, Yan pledged that Yuchai would benefit settled enterprises most on the basis of meeting Yuchai's price and quality requirements.

Wang Kai said, the government will earnestly study the representatives' opinions and suggestions, accelerate policy release and enable enterprises move in at low cost. Yulin will integrate educational resources and cultivate talents to meet the labor demand of settled enterprises. Besides, Yulin is stepping up efforts to build transport network covering highway, railway, port, terminal and aviation. Transportation conditions will be enhanced significantly over the next few years to provide infrastructural support for construction of Yuchai New Industrial City. He hoped that suppliers will help build the city into a national new equipment (internal combustion engine) industry base.
